Myguide is a website which provides a simple, intuitive way to access the internet, offering a free, easy-to-use email account and search facility.

Because it's aimed at absolute beginners, myguide is designed to be supported by staff in UK online centres, such as Innovations-Factory, providing assistance and reassurance to make sure peoples first steps onto the internet are a positive experience.

The User Journey

The user journey is a 3 stage process bringing the user from digital and social exclusion, through learning and skills, and finally to the confident citizen stage. At each level the user is encouraged to learn and pick up new skills, culminating in advanced internet skills such as completing complex online government transactions.

Here at Innovations Dingle Online we offer 14 state of the art computers for all aspects of I.T. usage, and all of these are made available for myguide usage, although the service is reduced on a Wednesday Thursday and Friday due to training.

Feeling Fine Online Open DayInnovations Factory Thursday 19th March saw the Innovations Factory in Park Street open its doors to all Dingle residents wishing to be a part of their ‘Feeling Fine On Line Open Day’. The day was intended to signpost people from the area towards the online courses provided by Myguide for absolute beginners in the world of computers. It was also an opportunity for other residents to pop in and see what other facilities this well used community resource has to offer. It was mainly about forgetting your worries and gaining an understanding of how to use a computer and get to grips with the basics, such as how to email your friends and family, go shopping online, and so much more! After barely 1 hour of instruction, participants who previously had never even used a keyboard before, were firing emails to friends and browsing local history sites jam packed with memories for them all to chat over whilst enjoying a nice cup of tea. The myguide courses came in for some major compliments about how easy it was to understand and helpful in so many areas of basic computing. And of the 24 new registrations taken on the day, every single one commented on the excellent facilities provided by the Innovations Factory.   ‘A pleasant relaxed atmosphere with knowledgeable and approachable staff made the experience a joy to attend’ said Irene Miller, an 87-year-old great grandmother, who had made her new years resolution come true by finding a new hobby and taking up computers in order to keep in touch with her sons and daughters all over the world.
