Feeling Fine Online Open Day
Thursday 19th March saw the Innovations Factory in Park Street open its doors to all Dingle residents wishing to be a part of their ‘Feeling Fine On Line Open Day’. The day was intended to signpost people from the area towards the online courses provided by Myguide for absolute beginners in the world of computers. ![]() 87 Year Old Les Roberts It was also an opportunity for other residents to pop in and see what other facilities this well used community resource has to offer. Les (87), showed great enthusiasm towards his initial indtroduction and soon grasped handling a mouse and inputting text using the keyboard. Within minutes he was surfing the internet and sending emails to his daughter and grand daughter, using his email address provided by Myguide. After barely 1 hour of instruction, participants who previously had never even used a keyboard before, were firing emails to friends and browsing local history sites jam packed with memories for them all to chat over whilst enjoying a nice cup of tea. The myguide courses came in for some major compliments about how easy it was to understand and helpful in so many areas of basic computing. And of the 24 new registrations taken on the day, every single one commented on the excellent facilities provided by the Innovations Factory. ![]() Irene Miller (87) and Jeanette Anderson (71) All smiles with their Myguide Pass !! ‘A pleasant relaxed atmosphere with knowledgeable and approachable staff made the experience a joy to attend’ said Irene Miller, an 87-year-old great grandmother, who had made her new years resolution come true by finding a new hobby and taking up computers in order to keep in touch with her sons and daughters all over the world. |
